Capital Reporting Actuary

Job title:                Reporting Actuary (if qualified)/Senior Actuarial student

Reporting to:        Head of Actuarial Reporting

Contract:               Permanent

KEY ACTIVITES:

The Capital Actuarial team of RL is currently comprised of three senior qualified actuaries, three junior qualified actuaries, three senior actuarial students and three junior actuarial students. We have two experienced hire vacancies and two graduate vacancies for 2019. This job specification focuses on the reporting vacancy.  

The tasks of the team are varied; the main focus of the role is to assist with the reporting aspects of the teams responsibilities.

=         Production of Year end and Interim Reporting requirements covering Report and Accounts, SFCR and QRTs

=         Produce deliverables and respond to queries from external auditors and internal Chief Actuary.

=         Ongoing monitoring in RL’s statutory and solvency position under IFRS and Solvency II Pillar 1

=         Proprietary risk and capital models, no specific prior systems knowledge required, although some coding experience would be helpful

=         Production of profit and capital surplus attribution

=         Attribution of profit arising to demographic, economic and trading factors

=         Working closely with finance/accounting, analysing balance sheet movements

=         Assist with the development of the RL Internal model

=         Production or review of assumption and methodology papers

=         Production or review of MCEV

=         Assistance with IFRS17

=         Management and tutorship of the less experienced students within the team

Other tasks carried out by the RL Capital team to which the role may include some exposure:

=         Ongoing monitoring of economic capital

=         Assist with the development and ongoing calibration of the RL Internal model

=         Continuing requirements of Solvency II

=         Review of new asset and liability trades for MA eligibility and SCR implications.

=         Future development of ORSA including forward looking assessment of own risks

 

REQUIREMENTS:

=         At least 2 yrs' experience in insurance business, ideally annuities

=         Newly or nearly qualified actuary.

=         Work typically has fixed deadlines; candidate needs to be organised and prepared to do what needs to be done to deliver

=         Must be confident  enough to share thoughts and ideas with a wide peer group

=         Comfortable working with and interpreting UK insurance regulation for reserving purposes

=          Mathematically stronger candidates preferred
